Default Most competitive Car Vintage racing.

If you had a choice between a Chevron B42 F2 [Bdg) 1978 and a 1986 Ralt Rt4 (BDD) wich would you want.
ignore the money side I know the Chevron is 3x the price.
My feeling is the Hp wins. My buddy says unless the track has long straights the Ralt wins.

    Can you elaborate?

My guesses (with no experience or real knowledge to back it up):

The RT-4 has tunnels, so should go around corners and enter straights faster.

The BDG is, what, 275 HP? Compared to a BDD, 240 HP? (wild guesses)

The Ralt will have newer, push rod suspension. Maybe better brakes?

It would be interesting to see data overlays.

Not exactly the same models, but I had both a Chevron B34 and a Ralt RT-5. The Ralt was a much more sophisticated car and much faster....and more fun to drive once I got used to the tunnels.

I did at the time, but that was 40 lbs. ago! (and about 30 years).

I have the B42 with Hart 420R similar HP to the BDG and race in Historic categories in Australia. competition is from the 60s through to the early 1990 cars formula B to F1 cars. I have never been beaten by a RT4, the F1, F5000 and occasional F Holden have beaten me. The RT4 is a lovely car but the simplicity of the Chevron makes using and driving these old cars so much more fun
The flat bottom B42 will hold it's value too

    Default Chevron vs. Ralt

And for what it's worth the Chevron is a legal F70 car in the Monoposto Group. Not so with the newer RT4. Give some thought as to where you're going to race and with whom.

And that's unfortunate - because RT4s are 30-40 years old! Maybe a "F80-90" series is needed....

I always thought the monoposto guys were cut from the same cloth as those collectors that think classic cars are only those with brass headlights.

I have a Monoposto car so that’s not a consideration for me

    Default Chevron B42

You had sent me details on your car a few month back. Fantastic car but more than I want to spend.

You need to find a better engine builder for your BDD's.
