Default Dunlop FF tire date code

Does anyone know how to decipher the date code on Dunlop treaded FF tires?

All tire date codes should be the same... first 2 numbers are the week they were produced (1 through 52) and the second two numbers is the year. I'd be surprised if Dunlops are any different.

I think that might be the DOT format but I don't see anything like that on these tires (Dunlop FF treaded race tires). The thing that looks most like a date code says "D53" on the fronts and "D22A" on the rears. Any thoughts?

I am in the same boat with a new set of Avons I bought. There are numbers on them but don't resemble a date code. They have 5 numbers on each 14298 on the rears and 14297 on the fronts. I doubt they were made in 1998 or 97. Any thoughts anybody?

Check with Sasco 434-822-7200, they should know.

    Graham,
    That looks like the format:
    yyddd
as in 2014, 298th and 297th day of the year.

Just a WAG though since I haven't had experience with Avons since my Vintage crewing days in the early 90's....

Those are just the construction types.

I looked on mine and don't see anything date-code obvious. As mentioned above, Sasco should know.

October 24th and 25th 2014. That would make sense. Thanks Garey.

    Default answer from Dunlop distributor

Thanks for your replies. Here is the answer from Phil Lamont, President, Vintage Tyres Limited:

Like most race tyre manufacturers, Dunlop does not imprint date codes on race tyres.

    He goes on to say:

I can tell you they were made before May 2014, because the Motorsport factory at Birmingham England closed on that date.
Dunlop Formula Ford are not in current production, we are hoping to have them produced for 2016 season.

I believe the new ones will be produced in Belgium.
