Default Gearing 69 Merlyn Formula Ford

    Hello everyone,
My second race (novice) is coming up in a couple of weeks at Eagles Canyon.... I am geared for Hallett now, and am wondering what gears to run at Eagles.... At Hallett I never got into 4th.... Could I be geared high enough already for Eagles.... 1969 Merlyn MK11a...

Clearly you weren't geared well for Hallett. Here's what's recommended for gears at Hallett:

    HALLETT:

    9/31 R/P
    17-34, 19-31, 21-29, 21-25

    10/31 R/P
    16-36, 18-33, 20-31, and 22-29.

    EAGLES CANYON:

    17/33 .20/31,22/30,24/28

    OR

    16-31, 16-25, 18-23, 24-26

Looks like BOTH of those Eagles Canyon numbers are for FF's with 10/31 R&P's. If you have a 9/31, go to Taylor Engineering site and get the conversion method.

Take ALL of your spare gears along with you. Gearing is effected by what brand of tires you're running (diameter stuff). Change as needed

    Default Gearing

Rough gear choice difference between 9/31CWP and 10/31CWP, is 3 teeth, thus a 17/33 in a 10/31CWP would be 19/32 with a 9/31CWP. Of course that's where it get sticky. The actual math would put it between a 19/32 and a 19/33. But in a pinch!
