Default Midyear VD Nitrile Rubber Cord “O” Rings

    Gents:

There is a plate that separates the oil reservoir and the gearbox on the RF-95. The reservoir side has two (2) nitrile rubber cord “O” rings: one (1) around the perimeter, and one (1) around the GB input shaft tunnel.

I sent the plate to be vapor blasted, and both cord “O” rings were removed. The question now is, how to secure the “O” rings to the plate?

i use both the O-ring material and Right Stuff Black together the last time I assembled. That Right stuff is so strong I'm not sure the orings are necessary.

The O-ring stock for the perimeter I believe is 0.103" and #152 for the round. Both Viton since its resists taking a compressed shape over time.

Two thumbs up for Right Stuff Black, it is just shy of the strength of a good tig weld.

What's the PN or type of Great Stuff Black you are recommending? There seem to be several different types/containers available.

    Default Permatex Right Stuff

I use Permatex "Right Stuff" in either the aerosol can (85224) or caulking tube (29208). I was reluctant to purchase the aerosol can but that was all the parts store had on hand; I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked and easy it was to store without the balance of the can going bad. This stuff is absolute hell to remove, but it won't leak. You can find various sizes on Amazon or at your local parts store. There is another color available, but I prefer the black.

Edited my previous post to the correct label "Right Stuff".

I bought 90min cure in the regular 3oz tube. I think other containers are popular and intended for quick/repetitive/volume applications.
They offer 1min as well if you're splitting the car between sessions

    Fellas:

Actually, I am simply trying to seat the nitrile O-rings, but not permanently. I may have used Hylomar to seal the plate and reservoir the last rebuild. Thoughts?
