    Default Old GCR's ?

Does SCCA (or anyone) maintain an archive of GCR's from previous years?

On the side: Does anyone remember the specific month / year that disc brakes were allowed in Formula Vee?

I do not believe that SCCA offers a publicly-searchable archive.

I have electronic versions going back ~15 years. I can email you one or more. PM me with an email address, and the year(s) you have in mind.

I have the following GCRs as html files (open in a browser) 1962, 1967, 1969, and 1985,1988, 2001, 2003-2024 as PDF files.

1985 and 1988 are not true PDFs. They are photocopied pages collected in PDF files. From 2007 on, I have each of the monthly updated files.

    Dave

P.S. Unless you (you, being anyone reading this) really need any of these, please refrain from asking for them. I'd rater not spend hours emailing these to the far ends of the earth. I will be happy to honor real requests.

It would be a good idea for Apexspeed to host these shooting for a complete list.....

It would be cool to have a section of the site called "resources" with stuff like checklists, calculators, the gear charts, GCRs, and other tech info without it being embedded in an old thread somewhere

I'm not a software programmer, but I suspect that endeavor is well outside the financial capabilities of this free website we all enjoy. Would be cool if I'm wrong though.

Nah, just have to create a spot, allow people to post to it, just like all the sub-forums - and it sure would be nice to have those postings NOT count against your storage total.

It might be worth considering copyright provisions. I have no idea what SCCA's stance might be, but worth checking.

I believe as long as the copyright info remains on the document, posting it would be considered "fair use".

FYI - At DaveW's request, I converted his Comp Clinic presentation to PDF and uploaded to this site back in 2018. I don't know if PDF uploads are still ok?

For clarity (something I'm known for...HAH) I think I'm looking in the 2017-2020 range.
Specifically, I'm trying to find the first GCR that included disc brakes for Formula Vee.
I do appreciate all the input.

FV disc brakes show up in the GCR for the first time in January 2019.

Other incredibly useful things to archive somewhere is the annual Fastrack News reports, a collection of the entire year's Fastracks in one file. Used to be called the Master Tech Bulletin and was a godsend for us scrutineers trying to keep up with regs changes.

Available here, at the bottom: https://www.scca.com/pages/fastrack-news

You can see that the disc brakes recommendation was offered in October 2017 for implementation in 2018. Proposed by the FV/Sports Racing Committee on Letter #22456. Flurry of letters in December and the BoD sent the letter back to the CRB during their November meeting.

Subsequently approved by BoD in their January 2018 meeting (after some changes) with implementation effective March 2018. It was further amended by the BoD to delay the implementation to January 2019.

CRB further recommended in Letter #24663 (July 2018) a minimum weight for the disk brake assembly, approved by the BoD in October 2018.

GA, yup, rules nerd. You should be too...hey jus' sayin'...

So, it was first implemented in the January 2019 GCR ?
That's very helpful for what I need.
    Thanks much.

Hello Dave, would the 1988 GCRs file you have have the rules for the Pro Super Vee included?
If so I would very much like a copy please
    Thanks

There are two parts to the answer. There is a statement on the first page of the FA rules that says: Water cooled Super Vee cars compete in the FA class in their Professional Racing Rules for prepared cars.

Then, after the FA rules, there is a section that starts:

    E. Specifications for Water Cooled Super Vee cars.
Cars may also be prepare to 1987 Club Rules if desired.

Then follow about a dozen pages of rules.

As far as I can tell from 36 years away, these are not the Pro rules, just a Club Racing Rule set. How different these would be, I have no idea.

If a copy of the 1988 GCR would still be useful to you, I will send it to you.
