    Default downforce

    I'm in the process of building my own shock package for a first gen FM, I have all the numbers the shock guru needs except maximum downforce on the front and rear wings. Does anyone have these numbers or know where I could find them or who would.

    You don't say what vehicle speed (actually air speed), but at 100 mph, I would expect a total of 500 - 800 lbs (distribution should be equal to the weight distribution).

    Thanks for the reply, I would assume max speed would be 125mph, you state 500- 800 does that mean 500 on the front wing and 800 on the rear I'm not an engineer so please excuse my ignorance

    I would assume 500-800lbs of total downforce. How it's distributed depends on where the center of pressure is on the car and that is affected by wing angles, rake, ride height, etc

    If you really want to know measure the downforce with your data. 500 sounds closer than 800 for a 1st gen FM.

    I meant a total of 500 to 800 lbs. If the weight distribution was 40% front / 60% rear, then that would be 200 to 320 lbs on the front (100 to 160 for each corner), and 300 to 480 on the rear (so 150 to 240 each corner).

    I found the downforce telemetry on this video of a F1000 at HighPlains very enlightening. I kept pausing at various speeds to plot the curve.

    I would think the diffuser on that Pheonix would contribute a lot. Just guessing but possibly in the 400 lb. range at speed.
