    Default Maximum alternator voltage with a Honda.

    I had a discussion on a website with a rep from NOCO (batteries, chargers, boosters, etc.) about the possibility of using of their batteries (either an NLP5 or an NLP9) to replace my dead Odyssey.

    He said that as long as the alternator didn't put out more than 14.6 volts, things would be alright. Their batteries (like many lithium batteries now I expect) have built-in BMS to protect against...well, everything it seems.

    So... ...does anyone happen to know what the maximum voltage you can get from a Honda's alternator would be?

    And does anyone have any experience using a NOCO battery?

    I don't recall anything over 14 volts on the data on any of the cars I've worked on.

    Good to know.

    Any thoughts on how many amps you need to crank a 1.5l Fit? ?

    You will get a fault code if that alternator is charging at too high a voltage. I believe that fault is around 13.8 volts. So you should be fine with the alternator output.

    I shall report back to the group with my results, as I just bought a NOCO NLP9 battery
