Default Source of This Steering Shaft in a Van Diemen RF81?

It fits between the upper steering shaft and the rack.
    The u-joints are getting loose.
    I assume it's from a production car?
It appears to fit on a 14mm finely splined shaft at each end and is 308mm or 12 1/8 long

    Thanks

I know they are a great resource for Van Diemen parts, I'm hoping to figure out the original source of the shaft.

If it's a matter of loose U-joints, try installing new U-joints. Much cheaper

    Default Borgeson?

isn't it from these guys? 9/16 will measure 14mm with some rounding up. The fittings then get welded to some tubing too make a custom length for the VD or Royale or whatever. Spline count options are also in their catalog

Assuming it's 9/16x36 spline, Pegasus has u-joints and stub shafts, so you could build one

There's a chance it could be from an Austin Allegro
That was a popular part for the Brit kit car world, back in the day

Since Jack knight built the steering rack they may be of some help.
    Locating them might be difficult
