Hi All,
I ran my rf96 for the first time recently and the plugs and tail pipe are very sooty. The motor is a fresh long rod pinto and the carb is new from Ivey. The motor pulled great on track, but lacked low end throttle tractability. I was reticent to change jets bc Ivey’s are experts, but after asking them they said to try stepping down a size.
my Main jet is 155 and Secondary 165. I was curious what other people are running?
I’m in the Midwest. My plugs are the same heat Ivey was using (NGK AP8FS). The other variable I plan to redo is the timing. My motor builder advised to back the timing off a little (34-36* advance) bc of the long rod conversion, rather than 37*.
