Folks, I'm jumping into an important FF detail we need to take action on regarding SCCA's proposed Runoffs class changes. Please look at the front page of SCCA's website to get up to speed on their proposal so the following makes sense to you:
Per the current GCR the average entries per class per Major needs to be 4.0 or greater, for the past two seasons, for the class to continue participating in Majors and the Runoffs. I did my very best mining of the results for the last couple of years:
2022 = 3.766 average vs the 4.0 target. 77 major races with 290 entries - which is 25 short of the number needed to qualify.
2023 = 3.97 average vs the 4.0 target. 65 major races with 258 entries - which is only 2 short of the number needed to qualify. This data set is a bit incomplete since the Southern regions records for 2023 are incomplete on SCCA's website. Sorry, its the best available info we have and the average number is close to right even with his missing data.
2024 so far = 3.38 including the upcoming June Sprints current entry list. So 29 entries short so far to hit the minimum average. About .75 entries per race.
FF racers - each of us needs to make an effort to hit one extra Major weekend per year to keep the class eligible for inclusion in the Majors and the Runoffs. Please, Please, Please - lets make this happen!! Maybe run a Major somewhere instead of a regional.
