Default Three day holiday race weekends

On these holiday weekends I always think back to Nat/Reg race events we always had on 3 day holidays during the 60's, 70's and 80's.

In California there are two club owned tracks and they very seldom have SCCA races on holiday weekends. Always lose out to a higher bidder I assume.

We just finished a TWO DAY Holiday weekend at CMP.. It was astounding how little traffic we had to deal with on the Sunday trip home. Sure beat the hell out of coming back on Monday evening. Back, many years ago, Atlanta Region had the Memorial Date at Road Atlanta - had it for several years. At our staff meeting to start the work towards our usual Memday event, the RE (me) proposed that we CONSIDER letting that date go due to the fact that most ALL holiday weekends in SEDIV had a race on them. I thought it was time to consider that people (including racers), might want to have a holiday weekend OFF from racing. The room all looked at me blankfaced... Then after about a 5 minute discussion we had a UNANIMOUS consensus to let the weekend go, more for WORKERS than drivers. Seems a few other regions have done the same thing. When racing becomes a 'race' between family EVERY holiday weekend, drivers as well as WORKERS have to think TOO HARD for too long . It's getting harder and harder to STAFF weekends for racing.. Holiday weekends are the hardest.
