I bought this car in 2016 while working in Germany with the goal of running Europe’s iconic tracks in a fully capable downforce car, and found the Py012’s technical specs and build quality to be exceptional. I tested with the car at Mugello and Spa before importing it to the ‘States in 2019, and I’ve since run a limited testing schedule at Buttonwillow. Work commitments preclude a more ambitious racing schedule, but the car is NASA and SCCA P1 eligible with technical and spares support available from Tatuus.
Some technical details of the PY012s:
- FIA specification carbon fiber monocoque, crushbox, and extraction seat
- Torsion bars on all corners
- 3rd spring ride height control front and rear
- Shim-adjustable pushrods which mount directly on billet uprights for reduced stress on the control arms and variable load transfer options.
- Adjustable droop limiting
- Brembo monoblock brake calipers with differential bores, dog engagement hats, and low friction front-pivot master cylinders.
- Drysump oil reservoir which mounts directly to the front of the engine via machined interface and nests neatly into the monocoque.
- Inboard longitudinal Sadev SLR82-14 6 speed sequential transaxle
- Sadev hydraulic paddle shift includes shift without lift and downshift blips
- Magneti Marelli ECU and comprehensive data system including brake pressures, fuel consumption, suspension and steering movements, multiple wheel speed inputs, etc.
- Oram SP-2 double adjustable dampers
- Quick release steering hub with integral electronic connection
- OZ 1 piece magnesium wheels
- Integral push/pull wheel safety pins
- Excellent quality throughout
