Our friend Peter Nosler passed away Nov. 3 while traveling in Europe with his family. Peter was a great patron and supporter of Formula Ford and open wheel racing in the San Francisco Region. Peter earned a trip to the runoffs in 1999 Qualifying 17th and finishing 13th. He raced until around 2012 when the loss of vision in one eye prevented him from enjoying racing.
Peter was a good driver and competitor, driving for Neil Porter of Porter Racing in a Swift DB6. He supported the region workers with special envelopes filled with $50 gas cards distributed at the end of the day's racing. He was always helpful with encouragement to new drivers in the class.
I knew Peter before I got involved in racing. He was one of the founders of DPR Construction. His company constructed one of first ever biologics drug manufacturing plants in South San Francisco, CA. I was a vendor supporting the construction and commissioning of the cell culture fermentation bioreactors that were the core of the plant. It was a great surprise when I showed up at drivers school and he was an instructor in 2004.
