I have a lightweight aluminum flywheel, and when I split the car, found the friction surface out of flat.
There did not seem to be a "traditional" steel insert, and instead what seemed to be a coating of
some sort. There was not magnetism to the surface prior to trueing up on a lathe. Is anyone familiar
with alternatives to inserts like hard coat or plasma coating to make a surface suitable to use with
a traditional tilton sintered clutch disc. Car uses a tilton (OT2) single disc 7.25 disc. Flywheel is super
light at under 3 pounds.
Best,
Guil
