    Default Formula car mufflers?

I am restoring 2 cars for vintage racing and want to find out what mufflers are good.
The only muffler I have is a Weber phase 9 and it seems heavy at 7.5 pounds.
cars have Cosworth BDA and 1600 water cooled VW engines.
Who makes a light, non power sapping muffler now?

    Default Burns Stainless

Only a FF owner, but Burns is very helpful.
They build a good selection of quality single and two stage mufflers. They are very light and repackable.

I have used them with both the "scrubble" and with glass packing. Glass packing is a bit more effective.

Perhaps contact them and find out what they can offer. YMMV

It depends. The glasspack muffler helps, without using discs. If you ad the end cap and a stack of 10 discs, it will help some more. Removing discs and increasing back pressure reduces sound further.

Supertrapps with discs are very good at cutting down power. Burns is the way to go.
