Default The Pandemic is crushing racing, maybe Apexspeed too

    Folks,

It's bad time all around. The racing industry is hammered. SCCA is shut down. Many of our friends that are prep shops are shut down. Folks are hunkered down.

What does it mean for Apexspeed? Obviously the Carters are getting less advertising, and income from classified. It takes money to keep up the servers and software.

All i'm saying... if you have some extra cash, or paypal money, whatever and you haven't donated to Apexspeed in a while, maybe you could help out now.

    Stay Safe.

If you have PayPal, click on the "PayPal Donate" button on the LH side of the page. If not, contact the Carters for alternate ways.

I just completed an order from the UK of engine parts. I had the order prepared for two or three days while I was waiting on the vendors site to be repaired and accept a payment. In that amount of time the USD fell against the GBP. My order wasn't that big, but it still ended up costing $80 more just because of exchange rate fluctuation.

During this time, everyone is watching their money and being cautious. But local organizers, and prep shops need to be able to pay their electric bill as well. I am organizing service with them over the next couple weeks to help with keeping them afloat. Also, when racing does start again they will probably be swamped with work from people who didn't service cars during a downturn. I am electing to service and repair cars NOW, so my car will be ready and hopefully 'support staff' will be around THEN.

Thank you all so much for thinking about ApexSpeed in this bizarre time we are all dealing with. While the advertising and classifieds have been ridiculously slow at a time when they are usually at the high point of the year, we will survive.

This is a time when you should be buying from small companies that are the only source of someone's income—local restaurants and shops, independent race shops, prep shops, tuners, parts sources, etc. These are the companies that need all of our support though this rough spot.

I'm currently working from home, and the company I work for isn't going anywhere. ApexSpeed is not suffering nearly as much as some of the small businesses that rely on their daily income to keep the doors open. As long as you guys keep buying and selling cars here, we'll be there for you.

Thank you from everyone here at ApexSpeed.

Haven't received my advertising bill from you yet, which is usually due about now.

Maybe that is part of the problem?

Ha... I bought a project sports racer in late February when $1USD = $1.32CAD. I paid $1.32 exchange for the purchase, $1.35 for the first major payment to the shop doing a frame-off upgrade, then $1.39 for a large parts order (data system, etc) and now over $1.42 for everything going forward.

I also ordered a trailer at $1.32 CAD being custom built in the US and now they want to charge me an extra $1500 to complete it since the exchange has moved so considerably.

    Not ideal!

If you click on the PayPal button, there is an option to pay with a credit or debit card. No need for a PayPal account.

Default The other way to do it...

If you aren't already a classified member, pay the fee and become one! Even if you don't plan on using the classifieds, you might in the future. So you sorta donate AND buy yourself some excellent functionality!

I paid for my entire engine rebuild (and then some) by finding a few homes on Apexspeed for vintage parts i was never going to use again.

    best,
    bt

The FIRM in Starke, FL (actually at the Keystone Heights Airport) seems still open for Track Days. Last week I got an offer that looked pretty reasonable, It was$1500 for a weekday-a private track day. So with 5-6 cars - not too bad. Standard disclaimers. My challenge is the drive time and no RV to stay in and Motels/Food spots all become a problem. Wonder how the 'Troopersr would take to an open trailer and car on I-10?

Some AX is scheduled for mid-April, here's hoping soon this will pass. Meanwhile its bend a wrench and scratch some 'glass.

    Cheers - Jim

WHOOPS - Just checked - AX is shut down - and I bet the FIRM has too. Still listed on MotorReg... ahh at least the weather is cooperating for some "resin-ating."

    Doug;

I asked last year if there was a notification function for those of us selling to be alerted annually. Is there the same for those who donate to Apex annually as well? Cripes sakes, I can’t remember what I had breakfast this morning, not to mention when I remitted last.

Rick, you didn't have breakfast this morning....that's why you can't remember what you had for breakfast this morning.
    or
You had the 'breakfast of champions'....you know....>....>......Budweiser......another reason why you can't remember breakfast
    or
you've got what I think I have.........ever heard of it?.......
    I've may have eighths'heimers..........yup, 1 over 8 with a TH........eighths'heimers.........

    in a few more years....quarterheimers!!

one contributing factor I hear is the breakfast of champions but not for breakfast.

Let's hear it for TrackSide Tim / RaceQuip.
Even if you're not running during a weekend, do spend a little something at the trackside dealer.....else ways maybe they're soon enough not there.....which would put everyone in a pinch.
The budget lately went to Primus, Accel, Sparco, TrackSide Tim / RaceQuip and Pit Lane Services
