We just picked up a Bobsy Vega FV and the numbers listed on the rollbar are 23 022. Anyone care to
decipher what they mean? I think they might list the SCCA region etc?

The car was the 22nd to be issued a log book by region number 23. Be aware that at some point region numbers were changed, so the region that is number 23 now may not be the region that issued the log book.
Log books were introduced in 1972.
Region 22 is New England.

Low logbook number, probably issued first year, 72. Ask for Tech rep. in area, but don't expect to find a lot. They did keep a list of books issued, but that was about it. Records have a way to get lost over time, folks pass away, move, and those early logbooks weren't really full of much info. Stuff written into book when issued was basic data/specs...general data on car, original owner. Min. info was recorded into each book as the car was raced (really as it was teched at a race/annual..passed/deficient, or major stuff like: wrecked and repaired...nothing else, except owner chances on back pages...). Not aware of anyone keeping a written history for all cars in a region...besides cars/racers moved around through their careers. No finishing positions recorded in logbooks (Like vech. logbooks, an early an attempt was made for a driver's log, but that died out fairly soon...) No central history list .
Never know till you seek...find some old geezers in New England...
Good hunting.

Do you know the original color of the car?
