Disk brakes you can get from a places like Appletree VW, CB performance or most places that support sand rails. The exact same calipers used is used on the front and back axles. The disks come with the front and rear conversion kits for bugs, the best value is to buy the conversion kit, but each part can be purchased separately. The kits include disks, calipers, front spindles, and rear brackets. You will need to redrill the bolt patterns to 4X4 on the disks and install studs. Let me know if you want more info.

Rear kit at Appletree is $275 that includes disks, calipers, brackets, and seals. P/N 22-2862-0
Front Kit at Appletree is $313 that included disks, calipers, and both spindles. P/N 22-2850-0

Butch's steering racks is an excellent option for a car.

I have a friend that is looking into a F FST.

Question about the front brakes and bolt pattern.

The EMPI part number P/N 22-2850-0states this kit is for 15 inch wheel only. How does one modify this kit for 13 inch wheels.

The bolt pattern on this kit is 4 X 130. How does one convert it to 4 X 100?

    Thanks.

We have been buying the undrilled rotors and having them drilled with studs put in to the recommended 4X4 bolt pattern, https://dunebuggywarehouse.com/ has been doing this for us the last year . You can also take the 4X130 rotors and have the 4X4 pattern drilled into them in between the 4x100/130 holes and then press in studs that have been successfully done many times.

    Thanks for your response.

Are there any clearance issues using 13 inch wheels with these rotors and calipers? EMPI says their kits are for 15 inch wheel only. I see the same for other Type 1 disc conversion kits.

    Thanks again.

There will be a need to grind a bit of material off the caliper, but there are directions available to do this located here https://formulafirst.org/technical . It is quick and easy and we have done it at the track in the past when we needed to repair a damaged car. If you need help or guidance there are several of us willing the help.

just to confirm this is the type of rotor we are talking about https://dunebuggywarehouse.com/brake...lug-holes.html
