Southern FC looks strong for 2019
From Pawleys Island, Sc. Oct 1, 2019- The southern Fc series continues its upward growth pattern for 2019. Stuart Jackson sold his Van Diemen F1600 car earlier in 2018 to pursue a business interest. He has [FONT=Garamond]been involved in motorsports most of his life and in his younger racing years he finished 2nd to the Formula one driver Mika Hakkinen back at the 1990 Formula ford festival in the UK. In recent years he has run the SCCA events in the Southeast . He was out of racing a handful of months but now he is back and Stuart has purchased a 2014 Van Diemen F2000 car to participate in the Southern Continental championship. The Southern FC series has produced strong grids with a total of 15 different drivers competing in a 5 weekend championship on different tracks across the southeast division in 2018. The series was the reason for Stuart deciding to get back into racing. The Southern series has created a buzz again in a class that has always been very popular.
The series focus is on bringing out all available drivers to the selected weekends and we limit the tires to 1 set per weekend. American Racer tires has provided a great spec tire reasonably priced for the series and it gives the performance and durability that formula car drivers are looking for in these full breed racing machines. There is also a year long points championship with all results posted on http://www.southernformulacar.com so each driver can keep up to date on there progress throughout the year. We are headed to the final event of the year at Roebling Road with nearly 5 drivers mathematically eligible to take home the points title and win one of the fine championship trophies awarded to the top 3 at the end of the season. The series has also gained many sponsors throughout the season that supply prizes at each event during the year. One mistake made on the schedule was placing the Roebling Road event on the schedule because due to the requirements of the SAARC regional championship many drivers were not allowed to enter this race so the field is very limited because of that factor.
We are thrilled that Stuart Jackson is joining the series in 2019 and rumor is that his very talented son Adam Jackson is looking at purchasing a FC car and competing in 2019. Paul Rieffle from R-sports has relocated his race shop to Savannah,Ga. and he also has expressed interest in running cars in the championship. Paul has years of experience with these cars and he will certainly be looking for customers to bring to the events in 2019. Fletcher Wullf from Wullf Performance Development will be the guy to beat this weekend at Roebling Road after his double wins at last the event at Road Atlanta back in July. Although Fletcher will be a favorite to win this weekends race the points leader Marc Stern will be looking to take home the 2018 points title. Since this weekends event is a single race the series will award double points. Jim Belay and Skip Weld will also be in the hunt for the points championship along with last years winner John Herscher so you can bet everyone will be pushing hard to win this weekends race.
We are also happy to announce that American Racer tires is back on board for 2019 and without their support the race series would not be possible. The championship has grown each year and it would appear that 2019 will be the highest number of cars to compete in the short history. We would like to also thank series sponsors, Speedcom radios, Taylor Race Engineering,Wullf Performance development, Quicksilver Raceengines and Primus Racing Parts for the year long support.
