I was perusing the motorcycles on Indy CL when I stumbled across this:

Hopefully it does not end up a Shrine parade car.

Lola: When four springs just aren't enough.
FOR TWICE THE PRICE, and for that 2nd Shriner:

While further off...Indy offering has greater appeal, if no power..... hope both find caring homes.

Had to look closely (twice), but car #2 (in Gulfport) is a Crusader Fv.
Very nice & clean.
Would be a good vintage vee buy for a bit less $$$ and if it comes with the rear bodywork.

That was an awesome car in its day. Even has Kazmerak mid-section.
Would be killer vintage car where D-13s are legal.

It's vintage-legal right here in the Midwest.
VSCDA uses Monoposto's rules for Vintage Fv.
We already have one running with us.
It can be a zero-roll as long as it's the original D-13 style. (which I see it IS)
Somebody buy this and get it out this summer!!

D-13 is also vintage legal with VRG, so long as it has original dual rear shocks / springs; fan; shroud and working generator.
I'm real tempted. I've always thought the D13 was the coolest Vee of them all. It would draw $$$ and time away from the Lola though.
Really need a motorcycle right now to keep my sanity, hence my surfing the ads for something interesting.

Don't understand. The Crusader in Gulfport clearly shows a z-bar, not a zero-roll.
Our rules say 1972 so it would take some chasing of the roll bar/logbook number to verify when it was built.
Clarification: I was referring to the zero-roll on the D-13.
The Crusader is one of the originals, built from 1963 to 1967 or '68. They originally had a cable or chain for positive camber control and then z-bars shortly after. As far as I know, there were no original Crusaders updated to zero-roll.

Just a little update, a buddy and myself went 50/50 into the gulfport Crusader. Its now in Baton Rouge in CENLA SCCA area. We are still learning about the car and history. Didnt come with any race logs as it run pretty much a solo run car for the last 25+ years. It got resurrected sometime in 2013 and passed hands until us.
We've run 2 events. The last event I was only 2 seconds off a very fast FTD and won the modified class.
I'll be lurking in the rest of the threads here. Thanks for the community and info!
We will probably homebrew a rear engine cover to look original. I know the molds go bought up and are in some obscure California warehouse.
The previous collector/owner ran it a few times on 12 year old dry rotted hoosiers, with as expected results in the gulf/nola scca region. New tires make this thing haul.
The original designer/builder of Crusader FV was Chuck Tatum. His son, Blake may be a resource for you. If you are interested, PM me and I will find his contact info for you.

Thanks, I read that in the history and searching. I've seen Blake's name come up but didnt think he had much involvement with old FV stuff anymore. I also don't see much likelyhood or feasibility of getting body parts, especially across the country. I'd wager it just isnt cost effective. The joy of this car is the mechanical options are very cost effective to run and we got a lifetime supply of barely used take off 13" Hooisers.
Maybe I should make a progress thread of what we have encountered while working on the car.
