rFactor1 Server Back Online

So I was missing racing with you guys and felt that we still may not be at that point yet where we can run rFactor2 yet with a lot of people and that we were excluding a lot of people who wanted to race with us but didn't have a PC that was up to date. To set up ar rF2 server is a bit more complicated and I haven't had the time to sit down and really look into it. I had also updated my server last year ago and completely lost how I had everything set up for rF1. I started to set the rFactor1 server up for some hotlaps if anyone wants to join in and get it back to the point where it was. Could someone fire up their sim PC and see if they can connect? I need some help to make sure things are working from "outside". We're running the SpecRacerFord v2.2 mod and Road Atlanta (by Uzzi) that we had run in previous leagues. If anyone needs it, please let me know.

Never managed to get the steering to feel any good on RF2 so I always go back and run RF1

I'm running rF2 as well, Jer... I'm just thinking that if we ran an rF1 league again we'd have a better turnout. Would you not be willing to run rf1 again?

"might" be interested in running some rf 2 stuff off and on during the week, but I am into a sunday league running the old formula 2 cars now. this takes most of the time I have for sim racing and I don't want to switch back to RF 1. thanks for asking though...

Daytona is currently on the server for those who want to sim run the Runoffs from the comfort of their own home.... Maybe we can do a fun run even next weekend with this weekend reserved for hot laps...

I am mid pack or slower - these guys are fast and serious! like no chatting in qually or race. they are a respectful bunch which reminds me a lot of the Apexspeed guys. they are running the latest build for RF2

they race a league race every other sunday that is the eve F2 formula car's, next league event is oct 11. they also have fun races in between on sundays. today's event is at Oultan park with the ac cobra. practice starts at 1:00 EST, qually at 2:30, race one at 3:00. race one goes off of qually, race two goes off of race one finishing order, but they invert the first 10 cars! some of these races you NEED a password to get in, which is listed on their site under the event notice. password is case sensitive.
all info is on their site, read the rules they have listed.
also, they race with F3 Fanatic's - they race F3 formula cars every Saturday night, practice starts at 7:00, qually 7:30, race 8:00 EST.

they usually have 2 sites on RF2 server set up for practice 24/7. one with the league F2 and one with the fun car of the week. they are under SR4L.

It would definitely be a week night after 8:30pm cst. Tuesdays or Wednesdays have worked ok for us in the past.

Sure thing! my preference would be to keep it the SRF, smaller formula cars, or possibly the 911 Cup Cars if we were to go fendered. I'd also prefer something with limited setup options due to the limited testing time I have, but that is only my opinion.

SRF always lends itself to some tight racing, and rarely a runaway winner- that being said, avoiding tracks with runway-like straights would help keep us all awake.

I was able to log into the server last night but had some sort of track mismatch, so I'll try reloading the track tonight to get back on and have a go of it.

Deleted and redownloaded the track and I keep getting a terrain.tdt mismatch when I get on the 'swerver. Any thoughts?

Why don't we join forces on some rFactor1 races?
As you know our rFactor1 LoPeN league runs weekly.
If we combined our league guys with the guys you know here from ApexSpeed, we could generate a sizeable field of cars.

We've run all types of cars through 2015 from open wheelers to stockcars to Clio cars.

That would be great to combine groups, but my preference for the mods we run are based on the minimum setup configuration needed on the cars due to a lack of testing time. Most of the cars on the short list of what we will run are either pretty close to a limited spec or cars that I've got setups from previous leagues we've done. I wouldn't expect your league to accommodate my agenda. If they did, that would be fantastic, but I can't imagine we would all be on the same page. I'll also welcome any feedback from the other potential league members to chime in on what their opinion is either way.

I'm kinda surprised you like fixed setups, as most find them very very difficult to drive.
I might like oversteer, while you might like understeer.
The biggest difference is that we typically use customized league mods, and tracks, and remove the slippery icy feeling from them.

Not fixed setups, but closer to spec cars with limited setup options.

I wouldn't say freakishly fast, but yes, I ran top-five at Mid-Ohio the last time we ran SRF with the keyboard. Smooth isn't really an option, it is a lot like steering with a rudder...

I have installed the correct track and the correct SRF version and have been entertained the past few nights putting in some laps. All seems to be working well except the cars. The car I am driving and all of the AI cars are listed as SRF and look like an SRF. Any of you that are out there are driving a car listed as unknown and it looks like the designers of the Yugo and the Pacer got together to try to out do ugly. Is there a setting I need to fix or is this common and I simply have to live with it?

Hi Eric! I was wondering when you were going to chime in. You're more than welcome to use the server and race with us when we start a league. I noticed your name on the hotlaps page a week or two ago. What you're seeing is that other cars are using custom skins from previous league races we've done. Your system doesn't know how to draw them so you get a generic vehicle on your screen. All you need to do is install the old league skin pack. It was a link at the top of the banner of the Hotlaps page, but I think it's dead now.

Thanks Keith. I will give that a try. I love rFactor. It was my main outlet (well rFactor and reading along here on Apexspeed) for many years while my kids grew up before I got enough time to buy a FF early this year and get to racing non-simulated events. Plus, it is much cheaper to just hit escape and have everything fixed instantly than it is to fix a real car after pushing just that bit too far into the corner.
