I'm on the hunt for a '11-'12GSXR engine for my Blade. Watching a few on Ebay, but I figured I would check and see if anyone on here had a good source for one.

Why this particular year model? Any siginificant changes that would justify a newer one?
Just curious.
Jim
No major changes. Just some minor updates.

Then why not an earkier model for less money and greater availability?
Jim
I think chris wants what he wants.
Calvin also has a 2011 for his car and he simply wanted a very low mileage motor and that is what he got. Low price too IMO. The 2011 does have a smaller air box which helps if you want to run the stock box.
I am also planning on getting a 2011 for our car as we will be doing a 2 car team with Calvin in car #1. We want the same motor in both cars and then we will only need 1 spare with common wiring etc.
An interesting note is that our chassis wiring harness is integrated into the engine harness with a single gang connector thus making the wiring much simpler. I will post a pic of our chassis harness next week if I get a chance.

Jim,
The RPM is greater on the 11/12 model and the crossover on the HP/Torque is better. Even though the HP numbers is not significantly greater the power curve appears to be smother and less choppy.
But since they are all in the Blade and Calvin has a 11 in his it would make sense from a development stance that they all run the same so I wouldn't read to much into it but remember everything is done for a reason in racing..
I can understand all this. I was told that it is better to buy one that has enough mileage (2K?) to be broken in.
