GLC (Great Lakes Championship) for FC and CFC vehicles weekend #3 at Grattan is just a a week away.
If you haven't driven there before, you need to give it a try.
Quite the roller-coaster ride.

We will not be going. There is exactly one piston in the new motor today. Parts are all here and everything is back from engine shop but I delivered a car and have been away as well. I love the place but Corey hates it.
JIM (2006 GLC CFC Champion)
Sorry you are going to miss another one Jim.
Myself, I've always loved Grattan too, even from before my SCCA driver school there. Many years earlier I raced lay-down Enduro Karts there. That's quite a different way to "see" the ups and downs of this western Michigan track.
Yes corey had only his second kart event in Sprint sit-up there. Leo Capaldi, the Franlkin boys etc.

How did it go today guys???
Rob,
Another good race group, a couple of new GLC members, for others, their first outing of the year. Once again, the car count was one of the highest (if not the) of any single class there this weekend.
Track was a bit green from rain and (I think) from an overall lack of competitive car racing use up until this weekend.
Tim Gaffney lowered the CFC class record in his 88 Reynard Saturday while winning his class (1:18.279). But he had to be somewhere else Sunday.
Steve Myers won FC Saturday. Gene Martindale's BRD was very quick, but broke early Saturday and just couldn't make repairs at the track. He'll be back, and be a strong runner I'm sure !
Sunday's 7 lap Qual race was wet and Paul Knight ran many seconds faster then the rest in his 94 Van Dieman to first in his class and of all the GLC runners. Some didn't make it out because they didn't have rain tire with them or mounted.
Sundays feature winners were Jason Bach in FC and Bill Wise in CFC, both doing an excellent job (Bill starting from the back because he didn't listen to his girl friends sugestion that he bring his rain tires along this weekend !)
I'm sure other's can fill you in on their race(s).
Wish you could have been here this weeked too !

Enjoyed racing with everyone at Grattan. Thanks to Michael Baden for his assistance all weekend as well as Keith Averill and Steve Myers for bits and pieces we needed as the weekend wore on.
Look forward to seeing everyone again at Mid Ohio!

Sorry I missed this one! I just couldn't get there....WILL be at Mid-O.......Congrats to all!!!
We really enjoyed our "short" race weekend. Thanks to Keith Averill and Steve Myers for all your help in the weeks leading up to Grattan and during the race weekend. You guys really helped us out with all the questions and issues we had.
This car has not raced in over 15 years, so we are finding quite a few things out with it. Having a one of a kind car definitely has its drawbacks.
Plus I have never raced a formula car before, so I am definitely learning a few things!
My crew and I had a great time and are looking forward to GLC #4 at Mid-Ohio.
....I will probably have a few more questions for Keith and Steve.
Gene Martindale
BRD #45
Gene,
Never raced an open wheel before !
Well, you sure did a very good job in qualifying for Saturday.
See you at Mid-Ohio.
Hey Keith, assuming that's maybe(?) supposed to be a pic of the BRD (no idea what that is and would like to see it) but there's nothing wrong with a fine foto of Chris Arbuckle wheeling the
x-Aaron Pettipas VD... Great to see it on track again and near the front!

The BRD was on the sidelines by the time my photographer (Sam) arrived for Saturdays race and I didn't have the time personally that weekend, to take any photo's of it myself.
I was glad to see Chris at the track. He got a late start to the GLC season, but he made it. Also heard that he ran at the Mid-o one day Regional this past weekend.
Correct Keith. Chris did make it to MO.
Yep made it to MO and had some more fun. Steve D., special thanks to you and Rex for your work with the Cincy Region to get the run group for us on Sunday. Look forward to seeing everyone back there on Labor Day weekend!
Chris
So any word on the race Sunday? Who won in FF, CF, CFC and FC? Did they do the tribute to Mike Kolthoff? Someone said there were going to be some stickers made up for Mike anyone have any word on that? Thanks
Rex in CFC, Dan Pyanowski(sp) in FF, Dave Harminson in CFF and not sure in FC.
There were nice stickers of a head shot of Mike in his car being passed out. Not sure if there were any left or not.
Last I heard the F1600 guys had what was left.
Jim Dietz was the winner in FC

Thanks.
I have more of the "In Memory of Mike Kolthoff" decals which I will bring to Mid Ohio on Labor Day weekend. I will not be there until Saturday and you can find me in garage #19.
Jim Dietz
Jim, I want to thank you so much for getting the decals produced for the last MidOhio race. All the effort and coordination you and Rick did to make this happen was awesome. Michael's greatest desire was to have the respect of his fellow FF drivers. And the decals and the tribute at the race was exactly what he would have dreamed of. Thanks again, and thanks for bringing the extra decals to MidOhio Labor Day. I need some more!
Lori
Jim,
I will not be at MO over Labor day but I would very much appreciate it if you save me one or two or drop one in the mail to me.
Thanks.
