Thanks to the continued support of George Dean Racing Engines, the cash prize at the first race of the 2013 season at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas will get a huge shot in the arm. If 20 or more cars take the green flag on Saturday, GDRE will give $1,000 cash to the driver that scores the most series points over the course of the weekend. If there is a points tie, the driver that finishes highest in the first race will claim the prize.
The US Formula 1000 Championship will sweeten the pot with additional cash payouts to the podium finishers. The winner of each race will receive $300 cash, while second place will get $200 and third place will take home $100.
As if that isn’t enough, if one driver sweeps the weekend and wins both races, he’ll get an additional $200, courtesy of Formula Racing Ltd and Richard Dziak.
These prizes are in addition to the previously announced Sunoco Hard Charger Award and the LS Motorsports Non-Suzuki prize.
All told, the total cash purse for the first race of the year is almost $3,500!
To be eligible for any prizes, you need to register with the US Formula 1000 Championship. You can register online here: http://www.usf1000.com/RegForm.html
