Hoosier Tires Signs on as Title Contingency Sponsor for the 2013 US Formula 1000 Championship
Fremont, Ca/Green Bay, WI (February 17, 2013) - Hoosier Tire has signed on to become the official title tire contingency sponsor for the US Formula 1000 Championship in 2013.
Ten tire contingency awards, (an additional 7 tires on top of current 3 tires for SCCA National) will be provided at each race in both the East and West US Formula 1000 Championships in 2013 for series registered drivers..
The following tire contingency awards will be handed out at each series race:
4 tires - 1st Place
2 tires - 2nd place
1 tire - 3rd place
1 tire - Pole position
2 tires - Random drawing giveaway to non-podium finishers
(driver must be at the track to receive tire contingency award)
In addition, the overall US Formula 1000 championship winning driver will be awarded a tire program at each 2014 US Formula 1000 Championship race the he enters. Should the 2013 US Formula 1000 Champion also win the Runoffs, the national championship prize will take precedent.
To be eligible for the series Hoosier Tire contingency award drivers must be registered with the series and display both a Hoosier patch on their uniform and three Hoosier decals on their car in locations to be specified by the series.
Drivers will be permitted to race on any Hoosier tire & compound of their choosing during the 2013 year.
About US Formula 1000 Championship
The US Formula 1000 Championship is comprised of three separate championships within one series run within the SCCA National program. Drivers compete in either the US Formula 1000 East or the US Formula 1000 West Championship. Those drivers are also eligible to compete in a championship race to determine an overall US Formula 1000 drivers Champion. US Formula 1000 cars are purpose-built high-performance Formula 1000 race cars and Formula 2000 converted race cars powered by 1000cc motorcycle engines, with top speeds in excess of 150 MPH.
