    Default Brake fluid

I ran a search and found some seem to be using dot 3 and some dot 4 brake fluid. Is this like starting an oil thread over on the Mercedes Diesel forum where it is a huge can of worms?

I do know from my experience in road cars that some brake fluids will eat away some brake seals and you need to be careful. My experience is that the european rubber parts may be a little more sensitive to brake fluid composition than American seals.

Motul 600 is a great choice for FF, maybe a little overkill to some; Castrol LMA is a cheaper, but still very good, alternative, also ATE Super Blue

    Default brake fluid

We use Cartel 580 (dry boiling point) DOT 4 brake fluid now. This replaced the Cartel 570 (dry boiling point) DOT 3 fluid we used for the last 25 years on F/Ford, F/C, F/Super-Vee, GT-1, S2000, etc.

I use Castrol LMA . it's left over from my Lotus Esprit so I had a bunch of it. Seems to work just fine !

Castrol GT LMA is great for small fornmula cars.

The LMA stands for Low Moisture Activity. It is supposed to absorb less moisture from the atmosphere and make the hydraulics not wear out as quickly.

Tom didn't mention that his car is for Solo use so high temps are not an issue.

I've used Castrol LMA "forever" but finding the small bottles in Raleigh has become difficult/impossible and mail order prices are pretty high. I'm not even sure the large bottles are available now either.

I'm planning on Valvoline in the future as a substitute if I cannot find LMA locally unless that isn't a "good idea" for some reason.

I've also used Castrol LMA "forever" but they have recently changed the formula to a "new and improved" synthetic. I am now using Gunk super heavy duty DOT 4 which has a dry boiling point of 446 deg. F.
