    Default Ball joint help

    Does anyone happen to know which road car these are sourced from? I believe they are triumph but haven't been able to ascertain the correct part number or a source. I believe they are common to most early FF's.

    Start with eraly Spitfire or Herald. Very common to use those.

    If those are whitworth thread, you might try some of the Crossle suppliers. The 30 series uses them on the front end I believe.

    If you are not terribly worried about maintaining the period correct construction, I would respectfully suggest converting them to rod ends. Lathe and a drill press with a reamer would be all that it takes.


    Pick a size of rod end such that you can drill then ream the hole that the tapered pin currently resides in to fit.

    Then spin up new track rods of the appropriate length and internal threads.

    Much nicer set up and not as expensive to replace when they wear out (if they ever do ) again.

    Thanks for all the replies. I guess i was hoping they would be an off the shelf part, or at least readily available. I can find the female version all day long. Steve - the rod end conversion is a great idea, but I am going for a full period correct look for my sins!
