    Default Alexis Mk14 Formula Ford

Long time ApexSpeed reader, first time poster...

I've recently been researching vintage Formula Fords, and collecting what I've learned into articles about specific cars. As I complete them, I'll post the articles on BritishRaceCar.com. My very latest article is about Jeff Snook's exquisite restored Russell Alexis. I'm confident you guys will enjoy the article - so I thought I'd post a link here.

    One typo in the info

    You have

Indiana and later with Lindstrand Motorsports of Darien, Wisconsin. When it was time to strip the Alexis down and restore it again in 2008, Jeff entrusted Bruce Lindstrom of Lindstrom Motorsports.
it's Bruce Lindstrand of Lindstrand Motorsports.

Great writeup and great pictures. I had a blast looking through the others and have it bookmarked to maintain a high level of productivity during work tomorrow....

    Default Excellent article

...and great photos! Regarding the distributor, I've used Motorcraft and Bosch, but not Motorola.

...please remember that it's a lot easier for us to critique your work than it is for you to write it! I loved the article, and offered my comment only to attempt to improve the accuracy. I look forward to your future articles!

Default Jim Russell School, St. Jovite, Quebec

A big Thank You to BritishV8; contribution coming.

A friend and I did a 3day(?) driver's school at Mont Tremblant mid-70's. I never asked Jacque Couture what we were in; didn't matter at the time. I've long since lost the one vanity photo of boy racer and steed, but the lines of the Alexis resonate, I remember they used Hewlands, and now I gather that Jim Russell and Alexis were partners...

    Default Loti?

I took the Jim Russell school at St. Jovite in the fall of 1975 (Skip Barber had only been in existance for about a year IIRC). I believe that the school cars were Lotus 51s. I remember the Smith's Chronometric tachs would "jump" by a few hundred rpm as the engine accelarated, which made keeping to the strict rev limits challenging.

I too, have a 'vanity photo' taken at the school - with me giving my best steely-eyed glare befitting the next F1 star-in-training.

    OK, Lotus 51's they were

    Edit -
from Curtis's Alexis piece: "Production of the Russell-Alexis Formula Ford continued through October 1968, when Russell and Alexis decided to part ways. The partnership had built and sold about 57 cars."

19720707 Montreal Gazette: The school was in it's third year in 1972

    Didn't do my homework!
