Default Mid-Ohio National results

Hey gang,

Being as I couldn't make it over this weekend for the National, does anyone know how it's going? Who's quick in FC and FF? Any interesting news? Heard most of the Runoff contenders expected to run the final National of the year before the Runoffs.

Cheers,

I just heard that qualifying was cancelled due to thunderstorms and will take place at 8am tomorrow. Yes, most of the contenders are there and, except for rocket fuel, this should be a good preview of next month's race.

Hi All,
I'm sitting here under the canopy in the rain at the track. All I can say is WOW. This field is pretty much the Runoffs. Going to the Sprints, the Cat National, and this race really brings a new meaning to running 'Nationals' for us. Here's this mornings practice. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep the car out of the gravel tomorrow. Any way you look at it, I'm going to have my ass handed to me tomorrow. I need some more slow guys like me to race with. Qualifying is at 8AM tomorrow morning. Hopefully we'll be running a little better.

i was right behind the incident between ricardo v and scott w. ricardo tried a late braking pass at the end of the back straight but he only got up to scott's right rear. scott turned into the corner and they touched wheels with scott flipping and ending upside down [he wasn't hurt]. ricardo admitted his mistake afterwards and apologized. from what i've seen of his driving previously, it was an uncharacteristic case of red mist for the young lad.
i don't know why chas retired from the race but it had nothing to do with he above incident.

I have run with Ricardo alot this year and that is definitally a mistake. I have run wheel to wheel with him lap after lap with no incidents. Sorry to have that happen to Scott and Ricardo right before the Runoff's. Sounds like it was a good weekend otherwise.

I broke a float on lap 6, I guess 2200 miles is too many for the float to take.

Ricardo made the same move on me in the exact same place. If I had turned in as Scott did I may have been on my head as well. I thought his move was overyly optomistic and next time I won't move out of the way for him. I only did so this time because I knew I didn't have a competitve car and didn't see the need to ball up both our cars.

I'm very sorry for Scott and glad to hear he is OK.

Scott is OK but you sure cannot say the same for his car. 2 1/2 corners + wings + misc bodywork and that is without looking very hard. It was scary seeing Scott's helmet in the gravel with the car upside down. I hope Ricardo keeps that picture in his head next time he thinks about a move like that.

Here's a pic from last Sunday. I've got a few others, but they're pretty out of focus. Last weekend was another example of the type of National event you face when racing in the CenDiv. Competition was definitely fierce to say the very least. A great weekend to experience for sure even if we were at the tail of the field. I must give kudos to the NEOhio region for putting on a great race. I'm not sure if it's common or not, but we even had false grid service! We had a worker with a tray of ice cold cups of water and straws for everyone on the grid! A nice surprise!
