In my experience, ANY between-the-segments O-rings are troublesome. They always take a set (stress-relax) over a few years at most and leak. The much more reliable technique is to assemble and torque the wheel fasteners with the pieces dry and clean with no O-ring, and then use RTV (I use Dow 832) in the crevices between the components. Unless the RTV gets physically damaged, wheels sealed that way never, in my experience, leak.
