    Default Kent race engine bearings

[FONT=Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif][SIZE=2]I am in need of both main and rod bearings for a 1600 race engine rebuild. The motor is for a vintage crossflow powered Lotus 7 and bearings needed are as follows

    .020 Mains

    .030 NARROW JOURNAL RODS

I know that the mains are readily available but having trouble sourcing the rods. It is a steel Arrow crank and I know that .030 is somewhat iffy but it is a relatively low compression motor with 7200 rpm limit so should be o.k.

Thanks in advance and you can email or call me direct or reply on this forum. Craig Chima (330) 807-0738 or chima97@aol.com

Years ago when those bearings weren't readily available in any size, we sacrificed an old connecting rod and made it into a jig so we could cut the standard width bearings in the lathe. Worked well, but takes a bit of time.

Yes, I know that is a potential option. Only because I already called Peter Marcovicci and he suggested it to me. He said to take a piece of round aluminum stock and turn so that the shell fits snugly. align both shells and then hose clamp with the ends overhanging the aluminum bar and turning on a lathe. Probably easier than sacrificing an old rod.

Thanks, Steve. I'll give them a try. Right now looking like I'm going to have to cut down std width versions. Not the end of the world if it goes that way.

FWIW Rex Gunning uses King engine Bearings . They always seem to have most everything on the shelf or available pretty fast.
