    Default Blocking cell phone texts?

Looking for instructions on how to block random numbers from texting me. I know how to block callers, I do it regularly, but with this iPhone 7 I can’t find a way to block these spam texts. Seems you can only block text numbers that are in your contact list? That makes no sense given you can block random callers. Am I missing something? Thanks

    Default texts

I have been texting back STOP which I think stops them from using the same number to send more. They could probably use a different number but it seems to be working.

For my iPhone, I use RoboKiller. Really like it a lot.

thx, I’ve had RoboKiller for years, I believe it does a good job on most of the spam calls, but recently I’m drowning in spam texts…..

I do it this way (which may not be the best, dunno)..

    Click the text
Next to the sending number there is a little arrow. Click it. then click "info".
From the next screen you can "Hide Alerts" from that number.

TBH, it doesn't seem to help a lot. I think they do not keep using the same sending #.
