For Sale 1997 Van Diemen RF97 FC For Sale (with Trailer)

    Hi everyone,

I've decided to sell my RF97 after racing it for a few years with the GLC. Car was last raced at Mid-Ohio in July 2021 (a month ago). I'll get more photos posted soon, but I wanted to get this post out there.

I originally bought the car in 2019 and raced with the GLC (Keith Averill’s group). I'd like to sell everything as a package. I’ll include as much with the car as I can, even leftover fluids, oil, etc. I have from running the car. Pretty much everything you would need to go road racing, except safety gear (although I’ve got some stuff for sale too). This would be a great car for someone looking to get into racing formula cars. NEED TO SELL BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER!

    The car:

    • Painted in Ford Grabber Blue by previous owner
    • Rebuilt PINTO engine with ~4 hrs of race time
      • Complete teardown, new bearings, rings, block honed, crankshaft magnafluxed and polished
      • Ivey prepped head with updated cam
      • Brand-new Ivey prepped carb
      • Crower short rods with Ivey/CP pistons (reused with Line2line piston coating)
      • TDC rebuilt oil pump with updated pressure section
      • Hitech headers/exhaust
      • New ignition coil, spark plug wires, fuel pump
      • Engine dyno'd at 130 hp peak at a local drag racer's shop. 'Low' number most likely due to dyno-to-dyno variation (this dyno is regularly used for engines with >1000hp). The car is definitely not lacking in straight-line speed.

    • Car was previously run by Comprent, includes old setup sheets and running notes
    • Includes logbooks
    • Includes wireless AMB transponder (non-subscription version)
    • Penske 8760 3-way adjustable dampers, Hyperco springs
    • Wiring harness redone over the winter
    • New Spa oil pressure/temperature dual gauge, Sniper shift light
    • AIM Solo 2 mounted to steering wheel for lap times, basic telemetry
    • 3 sets of 5-spoke OZ mag wheels with tires mounted:
      • Spec R60A tires with ~3HC
      • Spec rains (brand-new, unused)
      • Takeoff practice R35B tires

    • 22 gear sets
    • New 5.5” Tilton clutch with Tilton throwout bearing and factory rebuilt pressure plate (by HRP)
    • Resurfaced flywheel
    • Fuel cell in good condition (checked over winter), manufactured in 2011 per certificate from ATL
    • Willans belts good through 2022
    • Custom bead seat
    • Apex joints on most shift linkage joints
    • KFP red brake pads
    • LD20 calipers on all four corners
    • A disclaimer: I tagged someone (sorry Tim!) at Mid-Ohio and crunched the nose and dented the LH front wing main element. Got a new nose from Primus but still needs to be painted. Paint is coming this week. Wing is usable, haven’t replaced it.

    Tools

    • Alignment jig (bolts to chassis)
    • LD200 dummy shaft for gear changes

    Trailer

    • Perfect for a formula car, can easily be towed by a light-duty pickup truck
    • 2016 Interstate 7’ x 18’ v-nose enclosed trailer (dual axle)
    • 6.7’ x 17.6’ interior box dimensions
    • E-track with over-tire straps to tie down car
    • Rubber diamond-plate floor
    • Winch installed in floor
    • Tire rack
    • Electric tongue jack (manual tongue jack included)
    • Aluminum wheels
    • Spare tire
    • Dent in front part of roof from a tree falling on the trailer (just cosmetic, trailer is watertight, etc.)
    • One tire has a very slow leak but should be checked/filled before towing.

Price for everything above (car + spares + trailer) - $18000
Price for car + spares (no trailer) - $15000

This is a beautiful car, everything fits together so nicely on it. Very well taken care of. Whoever buys this will not regret it.
