Apparently, Brian, Lewis Hamilton could.
I've always wondered why transcendent talent draws so much negative fan reaction. Having lost my need for heroes decades ago, I gained an appreciation for displays of talent. Never agreed with so many about Senna, but certainly appreciated what he could do in a race car without having to slag him off.

It is the "I am good at a sport so you must be interested on my opinion of matters outside the sport" attitude. Transcendent talent often takes.
Hamilton is an example to the nth degree. T-shirts and attitude doesn't help many.
Senna did it with charity and grace for the poor in his country, I respect him more for it.
True, you don't win as Hamilton has by luck. I read he works out 6 hours a day. He is lucky in the sense that he is lucky to be driving for an excellent team but if he was not good he would have been gone long ago.
As Roger Penske used to (and maybe still) say " Luck is when opportunity intersects with preparation".
I never appreciated Senna, Earnhardt or Shoemaker's ruthless tactics on the track, though their skills were unsurpassed.
In the past and todays F1 how much influence does the driver have on the set-up and development of the car? Hamilton left what was thought the top team to go to an unknown team apparently convinced by Nikki and here we are today. Shumi and the red rocket that apparently was difficult to drive and Max with the raging bull. By the way, not a fan of any particular driver just amazed at how they all tweaked the limit of the machinery along with an amazing team at the time.
Charles.
