    Default Fire bottle help needed

Hi, the threads on fire-bottle maintenance were eye-opening to a new driver! I'm trying to pull mine out to send it in for maintenance but I can't figure out how to get the pull-cable out of the neck. Everything else is disconnected but I need to get that cable/sleeve out of the actuator before I can get the bottle out of the cradle. I cannot rotate the bottle to see brand/info with the cable attached.

    Appreciate your advice!

I can't tell from this shot. More pics would help. Maybe you could get a mirror so you can see the back side too.

Talent usually ends up in front, but fun goes from the front of the grid all the way to the back.

Should have a set screw, probably small diameter.

First reinstall the brass threaded fitting before it discharges in your face.

You should have a safety pin shown in the photo below.
reinstall the safety until it exits the opposite side.
That should compress a spring ball and loosen the cable for removal.

ABSOLUTELY install the safety pin before removing the cable. There will be a set screw holding the cable in place, probably in the most inconvenient place. The cable keeps the pring loaded plunger from penetrating the fioil seal in the bottle neck and discharging the unit.

HENCE the absolute necessity of having the safety pin or the cable in place at all times.

    Default Careful

Don’t know if this is yours but this is the idea. Search online for your manual.

    Default thanks!

Thanks all! I think I saw a set screw but it's really hard to get to. I'll see if I can get that backed out.

Rest assured, the safety pin has been in the entire time :-).

    Appreciate the help!

Finally got it out. I wound up spinning it while holding the actuator head to disconnect from the pull cable. Once apart I was able to get an allen wrench in there to remove the cable. Glad I checked as it is over 10 years old so it needs to be replaced. When mounted in my car I couldn't see the label but now I know!

EricP - thanks for the firebottle link, this is the one I have!

Great! Looked familiar. It is what I once plumbed in the 911 I had...
