    Default Corona Cup Event #15 - 7/7/2020 USF2000 2017 @ Indy

So COTA ended up being more fun than I remember. I qualified on pole with an exciting last lap giving us the closest 1,2,3 qualifying result we've ever had.

    1 Keith Carter 2:05.007
    2 Eric Little 2:05.029
    3 Clint Matthews 2:05.055

Being on pole put me on the outside of row 1 for some reason, but Eric Little got a great start and ran away with it. I had a couple of lapses which resulted in me dropping back from second to as low as 5th and managed to grab a spot back from Steve Davis and finish in 4th while trying to chase down the newcomer, Aaron Strouhal, who was in 3rd. Great racing, guys!

In honor of Independence Day, for next week's ApexSpeed.com Corona Cup Event we will be at a track that is as 'Merica as you can get... IMS!! I chose the layout that is as close to the 2017 SCCA Runoffs layout as I could get. Come on out and race with us!

    Some things to remember:

Remember to please use your real first and last name before joining the server. By default, rFactor2 will use your Steam account name, but you can edit your name next to your "Nickname" within rFactor2 in the upper right corner of the landing page where you select your option for single or multi-player.

It is suggested that everyone log into the Discord channel for chat. Discord is a Skype type of application used by gamers. You'll need to install and enter the ApexSpeed.com Sim Racing room linked below. https://discordapp.com/

Please bind a key for "Push to talk" in Discord so that others don't have to hear unnecessary noise you broadcast to the room. We don't need to hear that you screwed up, your shifters clicking, your simulated wind noise, or that your dog wants to go outside. Instructions for doing this are here: https://appuals.com/enable-configure-push-talk-discord/

Now that the group is getting bigger, please refrain from unnecessary voice chat during qualifying and the race. Some of us can't pat their head and rub their belly at the same time, so please be considerate to that and only use voice chat during qualifying or racing for race related discussion like alerting people you're pulling out of the pit lane, a request to restart a race (like we had last night), or a huge pileup in T1, etc...

    Default Corona Cup Event #14 - 7/7/2020 USF2000 2017 @ Indy

Thank you everyone for the race last night, I did not qualify near as well as I would have liked, but turn 1 was nice to me!

I personally found COTA to be a track that was difficult to NOT make a mistake on. I just tried to focus on being consistent.

MONSTER charge by Keith at the end had me sweating bullets...…

Fantastic job by Eric Little, after turn 1 on lap1 he checked out and was flying!

Had another newcomer show up last night: Tim Henson. He is a friend of mine and I encouraged him to get Rfactor 2 and race with us. He had a very good time and plans to be back!

Looking forward to next weeks race at Indy. Never ran it before so time to practice!

Have a Safe and Happy 4th!

    Aaron
