Which way is considered up for a shock absorber? Does the adjustable perch go on the top or bottom or does it depend on the type of car? I've seen it both ways.
I'm asking for my car in particular - Crossle 30F.

If the shocks are pressurized with an accumulator volume separated from the oil by a diaphragm or piston, they can mount in any direction. If the shocks are "twin-tube," non-pressurized, then they must mount with the shaft upwards to keep the bottom shock valving immersed in oil.
To have less un-sprung weight, the best way to mount is shaft down (attached to the suspension).

We used to run the shocks upside down on the Vee. i never considered it on the Ford :-p
Is it a big diffence... Sure would make all those spring adjustments easier:)

I'll be scouring the Carroll Smith books tonight.
    I think I can run the Koni 3012's up-side-down?
