fortuitous timing for me as I just finished reading "The Unfair Advantage" by Mark Donohue. Probably will be good for the speedway. Certain parts are looking sort of dumpy, like the Museum.

one can only hope this improves the situation at IMS. He helped turn MIS around years ago, although the Stirling Moss designed road course at Michigan was never returned to glory. Penske brought new life into numerous other facilities as well.

The only thing i worry about....

It is a corporate buy. What if he dies? What will the corporate lawyers/accountants do with it then?

It's not like a "family tradition"...

I had lunch with Roger a few days ago. He is not planning on dying.

    (just kidding about the lunch).

With 64,000 Penske employees I'm sure Roger has people appointed to run IMS in his absence.

I'm fairly certain this is an over simplification of the transaction.

I've got to believe that most of Rogers assets are in trusts and other structured entities with boards/management teams that manage the assets according to his wishes already.

Quick... Somebody get a DeLorean and 1.21 Gigawatts and make this happen prior to 1996.

I had occasion to visit the Unser Racing Museum in Albuquerque back in 2012. I kind of expected a dusty, marginally lit display. WRONG! A beautiful display in a good sized building(s), everything in perfect condition and polished to the nines.

Among the cars on display: Big Al's 1987 winning Penske (on a turntable near the lobby) Little Al's 1994 car, which won the 500 and dominated the season, Bobby's 1968 500 winning Rislone Eagle, the Johnny Lightning Special with which Al won in 1970 and 1971. This just scratches the surface. If you're ever in Albuquerque, it's well worth your time.

Sounds very nice! I have always liked the Unser style on the track.

Big Al's winning '87 car was an '86 March with the Cosworth DXF engine. It had been a show car in a hotel's lobby only a few weeks before.

This may be the best thing to happen to IndyCar since the formation of CART.

Penske probably has had succession plans in the event of his death in place for decades and they probably get modified with each changed in his holdings.
