    Default Two Bent Beams

Before I scrap these out I'm putting them out there in case someone can use them.

Two plain bearing beams prepped for F Vee both are bent on one side. I have had them straightend before just needs someone with a big press.

    $20 each plus ship?

I sure hope someone picks these up since they hardly look bent. I built my own 30 ton press many years ago and associated parts to hold the tubing in so as not to wrinkle the tubes and they can be straightened out. If you were local I would take them but not at $20 each since if you scrap them you might get a $1 each and you would have to take them to the scrap yard.

The Jennerjohn folks that build the Vortec Vees have a neat jig to fix a bent beam at the track.
They saved my weekend at St Louis a few years ago.
They carry it in their trailer.
Maybe you can meet up with them and save the beams
    Good Luck

You guys do realize that these two 'plain bearing' beams were junk even before they were bent!

He is stating his opinion that a non-needle bearing beam would not be used by a serious FV racer.

In terms of repair, if I have a full-prepped beam with needle bearings and adjusters, I cut slices out at the bend, straighten and mig weld back together. Less cost and less work than building another beam with adjusters. I have constructed "new" beams by attaching two beams that had opposite sides bent. It usually takes longer to get the bent springs and AR bar out, than to fix the beam itself.

    I knew what was meant.
I find statements like that kind of demeaning & ridiculous when considering what some top drivers have accomplished with basic (and sometimes substandard) equipment.
Just a reminder of what FV is...more about the driver.
Thanks, Greg. Always appreciate & enjoy your comments / input.

    "'plain bearing' beams"

Just curious, how can you tell from those pics? Might be because I've never had a bushing type beam to recognize it.

Sorry for the late reply. I see now, it's in your original description. I thought Brian could tell it from the picture and I didn't understand how...

    Thanks!
