    Default Heat shield by headers

One of my header tubes has about a 1/4 gap to some of the cars framework. What ie everyones recommendation for putting some kind of thermal barrier on cars framework? Any ideas of products that will work in tight areas or that will secure to the round tubing of cars framework?

I've seen people use this on cars. Never used it on our own though...

    What Keith said.

IIR the Silver actually works better. But I think it depends on brand.
I found 6 " wide rolls were handy.

My rollbar was untouchable until I wrapped the section in the engine bay and firewall.

Have you found the adhesive backing turns to jelly with the heat? I had a car which had some of the silver barrier wrapped around framework and held on using safety wire. There was a safety wire twisted up about every 2". This was effective, but WOW how many times did I poke myself on that stuff! I would like to avoid having this again. This is the reason to ask around

I have found it to hold well. No safety wire or zip ties.

I've used a gold product from DEI, has some kind of square mesh inside that make it distinctive. Have on the three tubes next to the exhaust and the diffuser. The stuff on the frame has been there nearly 10 years and is still almost perfect. The glue doesn't give up under heat, makes me worry about getting it off some day.

The embossed aluminum is the best stuff that I have found for truly high heat situations -

You can also go to McMaster Carr and look at the insulation materials they have and configure your own.

This is the stuff I used on frame tubes:

Cut to length and wrap. I think there was a a 6in wide version too, but 4in should do it.

I think I bought the DEI sheets for my firewall and to wrap my air intake.
