Default SVRA Formula Ford Reunion Races

SVRA has scheduled two "FF Reunion" races for the upcoming Indy weekend. They are scheduled for Sunday.

There are over 80 entries in FF for the weekend and they are divided into two groups, Group 2a and Group 2b.

Anyone know how the FF Reunion races will be set? Will they take best finishes of the two groups and combine them? Or, something else?

    Thanks in advance

Two years ago the FF special grid was made up from the top finishers in each of the three run groups' final races. Plus a few others when it turned out some of those selected couldn't run.

The initial schedule had a final Feature race and I was told it was going to be the top halves of the 2 groups. With the changes, that's a reasonable guess.

Send an email to Alex Miller or Kathy Swinford at SVRA. They should know the answers.

From Saturday's races, the Sunday races will be split up into the top 50% of finishers from both groups on Saturday go into the "fast group" and the bottom 50% of finishers in both groups on Saturday go into the "slower group" Sunday races.

If the fastest car in the event DNFs on saturday... does it get put in the slow group on Sunday?

    Thanks for the clarification!

Who would sandbag? Why would anyone want to be the fastest slow person? Is the money better to win?

After the event, a few people will be able to say, "I won my class at INDY!!"

The rest will be able to say, "I raced at INDY!!"

I'm good with being able to say either (although I have a preference, despite the long shot!)

I'm just going so I can kiss the bricks. Hopefully while I'm not still strapped in.

The Speedway photographers will almost certainly be able to provide a photo of you crossing the yard of bricks at speed. I got mine a couple of years ago at what I thought was a reasonable cost.

Well, this time just make sure the bottom of the car is all the same, just in case. Not like last time.

Here is the official explanation from Rick Parent at SVRA...

Cars have been placed in group 2A or 2B randomly in order based on date entered and by class, A, B, A, B and so on. There will be FF, CF and PCF classes in both groups split evenly.

All cars will race in group through their feature race on Saturday, for Sunday the top 50% of finishers from Saturday's Race in both groups will race in the FF (R2) race after lunch, the bottom 50% of finishers will race in the FF race Sunday before lunch (R1).

Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in class for both run groups.

Grid Sheets for Sunday’s races will be posted Saturday afternoon and may be found in the results room.

    FF Features and Fan Walk,

12:10, Feature Race 2 move to the Hot Pits.
12:15, Fans released to meet the drivers and take pictures.
12:45, Hot Pits cleared for start of race.

Seems like the best way to grid based on all the variables. Thanks Ralph

Yea well, the good news is that you're in group 2A and I'm in 2B so at least I won't be on track with you at the same time, so I do feel a bit safer.

Lol. I’m a little disappointed. But we’ll all be together in the final
