I have an opportunity to buy some body molds (moulds), but neither of us knows what the going rate is - these are big pieces from the cigar-with-wheels period (like early Lotus). Any ideas on a ballpark?

I haven't seen them yet so I can't comment on construction. Tips welcome.

    Cheers,

The value is what a buyer is willing to pay, and a seller willing to accept.

That said, I've seen molds go for 1x to 3x the cost of parts that will be pulled from the mold. If you think parts could be made for $1000, then $1000 - $3000 for the molds would be a fair price.

At 2-3x, you can have new molds made from a part.

Dave, that's a great summation. Thanks!
