Default Pictures in Posts

I placed two posts yesterday - both with pictures.
One shows with just thumbnails - that's fine.
Other shows with full size pics as well as thumbnails.
How does one choose one or the other?
I looked again at the "Manage Attachments" page and could not see anywhere to choose.
Thanks.

Default

I dragged this picture from my list of pictures and selected "Insert inline", which is right next to done. I believe the "Insert inline" selection makes the difference.

Default Another alternative:

Use the

With a valid url in between the open/closing arguments of you can bring in another image from a different page/site. Good alternative, but the risk is the other location closes - there goes the image!

here is an example from my images on the VetteMod forum:

You'll note it doesn't load a thumbnail. This does let you keep all your pics in more or less one spot, rather than hunting for them when a HDD goes down.

Default insert inline photo option

for this post: https://www.apexspeed.com/forums/sho...331#post582331

I tried to insert photos inline, to no avail.
I have windows 7...(I can select a photo, the "insert inline box shows 1 photo" I click it, but nothing happens)
I tried it to this post but it remains as an attachment.

also, question, because the photos are not inline and are attachments, they cannot be seen by guests?

thanks,

Default Let's see if this helps any...

I don't know from Apple/i-pod/etc, but this has worked for me (and I am a bit of a Troglodyte.)

Start by selecting Reply to Thread.

When you get to the screen for your text message, scroll down to find Additional Options.

Click on Manage Attachments.

That takes you to this screen:

The Add Files should get you to your picture location(s).

Select the photo. Don't forget to click Upload. This adds it to your set of pics. Then click the check box for the one(s) you want to display.

If you want it inline, click Insert Inline. When Done, click Done.

Once you have it in the message screen, you can drag it where you want it.

NOTE: Some Forums have a size limit on images, and you may need to resize them. Usually 1024 works for most Forums - just a caution.

I "think" this should work with your phone if connected via a Browser. I don't use TapaTalk or other apps, so can't say.

Hope this proves useful. Let me know one way or another.

Cheers - JIm

Default pictures in posts

ok, spoke too soon, when logged in, i see the photo inline, no problem, but not logged out or as a guest. the attachments are listed but not visible unless logged in...tried viewing in Safari, Chrome, Windows...just wondering if something has changed how photos are managed in a post if this is how it is from now on. My mind may be getting feeble but it seems at some point earlier in life, one could see photos within the post without having to log in...

Non members of the forums (and members not logged in) cannot see photos on threads. We set that up that way in 1998 to prevent grifters from stealing photos, as well as an enticement for people to actually join the forums and participate.

Personally I think the time has come that pics are viewable to all without being logged in.
