Wow, that is shocking! I only met Sean once, when he bought my car, but he was a stand up guy and we had a smooth and pleasant transaction. Condolences to his family and friends.

    Default Sad to hear this

Sean took delivery of one of the first two Stohr DSRs (I believe his was serial #001) at the 2001 Runoffs at Mid Ohio. Here he is on the grid:

So sad to hear. Was this related to his motorcycle accident?
I walked him around Lime Rock Park during one of the Pro events... he had the green Honda Citation there, which was Dano's car, and mine before that. Deepest condolences to his family.

    Default I'm stunned

So sad to hear of Sean's passing. He was one of the first FB (F1000) competitors. He may have even been involved in creating the class?

My sincere condolences to his family.

    Rest in Peace Sean.

I spoke to Sean a few times over the years. Sean loved building cars and had great detailed blogs. Some of the cars he built included a Van Diemen RF99 F1000 conversion and the Citation Honda conversion. Sean has a great sense of humor including painting the Citation Chassis John Deere yellow and the body JD green with JD OEM stickers as well.
Both those cars recently sold on Apex. He has left his fingerprints on our racing community.
Ever lasting peace friend! You will be missed!

Sean had recently been hospitalized for removal of a clogged clot filter that was related to his motorcycle crash injuries some years ago. It seems possible that with the filter gone, maybe he developed a clot despite the anti-coagulants.

The family of Sean Christopher Maisey is sad to announce that he died November 5, 2018 at the age of 52. Sean was born in Washington, D.C., but grew up in Williamsburg/James City County, playing soccer and other sports. A 1984 graduate of Lafayette High School, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree in computer science from Virginia Tech in 1988. For most of his adult life - almost 22 years - Sean worked at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, ending his career there as the director of operations and engineering. A lifelong Hokie, like his father and now his daughter, Sean also loved racing sports cars and motorcycles and playing guitar. He is survived by his daughter, Samantha; former wife Marsha Burdess Maisey; parents, Sheila Shepard and Bill Maisey (Kathy Barnstor?); and his sister, Morgan Weston (Matt and children, Molly and Mac), all of whom live in the Williamsburg area. The family is planning a private memorial service later. Vincent Funeral Home handling arrangements. Tributes may be posted at www.vincentfh.com.
