I bought a trailer from the VIR area with a galvanized roof and the guy painted eternabond on it every couple of years.

Try some bed liner material. Clean it up and roll it on.

    Default Use "Elastomeric Roof Coating"

A few prior links that give the thumbs-up to elastomeric roof coating:

Where it is rusted, use a rust converter first before any painting/coating, or it will just continue to rust.

Here are links to what I used a couple of years ago. I did two coats of the rust converter because I didn't trust the first coat. And, I did two coats of the elastomeric coating to get a good covering. The combination has held up very well.

    I don't remember where I purchased this.

The Ultra-Roof can be purchased in 1 and 5 gallon sizes. I used about half the 5 gallon pail. You might be able to get by with 2 of the gallon cans, but you won't save much compared to the 5 gallon price and you can use what is left for other things. Available at Lowes, Ace, TruValue, McCormick Paints and maybe other places depending on where you are.

I used this same stuff from Lowes (for motorhomes and travel trailers) 15 years ago and it is still good. Covered rusty spots and no new rust and no leaks. If you have leaky seams caulk them with silicone, let it dry then coat.

Most paints and coatings, even a later application of RTV, do not adhere to most silicon RTV's. YMMV.
