Perhaps we could collectively make this happen?

Could we form a company, buy a famous golf course, tear up all the greens and tees to build a race track?

A mall would not really do it for me. It must be a golf course, and a fairly well known one.

The sky photo of Bridgehampton is really upsetting.

Yes. But you would have to get approval for any and all building improvements you want to make to the property. THAT is were you have a problem.

Pebble Beach comes to mind. Of course Joe is right after all anything you did including tearing out the greens and tees could be construed as "improvements" ;)

Every time a see a golf course I think about what a perfect location it would make for a race circuit...

Irony of ironies: From what I read there was considerable support on Long Island for keeping The Bridge as a race ecircuit---from the local environmentalists. Seems a road course has a smaller impact on the ecosytem than a golf course...

Worth remembering for our next fight.

What about a nice race course through and around a golf course? Infield parking would of course be limited to fairways and greens only.

Didn't the Brickyard have a golf course in the infield for many years?

Even the have-nots will have access to golf carts for their paddock vehicles!

The Brickyard still has a golf course that has a few holes in the infield.

We may have the distinction in Pittsburgh of having a race that often ends up requiring repairs to a golf course afterward -- its called the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and is held on the streets in Schenley Park, which also is home to a public golf course of the same name. On Saturday of the race weekend, the various car clubs (Triumph Club, Morgan Club, etc.) set up on the golf course. If it rains, they sometimes end up doing some pretty nasty damage to the golf course. The annual race is a huge success and is free to the public. Sponsorship and merchandise sales bring in considerable money for the Autism Society. Anyone near Pittsburgh should come over in July and see it - some neat old race cars.
