Default Van DIemen FF Clutch not disengaging.

    Good day lads,
Have a 2000 vandiemen with Kent engine. Tilton 5.5 inches clutch. Car worked fine last year on our last run. This year cannot get clutch to disengage. We had the car apart to replace ring gear. We noticed that the bleed tube as twisted. Fixed that. We changed all the fluid and been bleeding the system to no avail. Any suggestions.

    Regards
    Paul

I had a similar problem to that once where I would press the clutch in and it would not disengage or when it did would be choppy. All I did was separate the bell housing from the engine, verified the distance from the clutch fingers to the throwout bearing were good then reattached the rear end. Everything worked fine again.

I had no idea what it was but Craig Taylor at the time said there sometimes are alignment issues. He was right.

When you did the ring gear did you disassemble the clutch?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but don't you have to remove the clutch from the flywheel to change the ring gear? Or am I missing something?

I've seen clutch disks fuse to the flywheel or cover plate after they have sat for a long time........

Same here. Tapped it with a hammer and it let loose.

Sounds like there is still air trapped in the system. You might try opening the bleed valve completely and actuating the master quickly to get more fluid velocity.

Change the three O-Rings in the slave release bearing, they are probably leaking.
It should be done at least once a season.

i had a similar problem. Couldn't get it to bleed.
Solution was to open the bleed valve, top off the master and walk away. Gravity eventually resolved it.
    A little conventional bleeding after.
