Jerry,
Assume you mean a Hewland gearbox using Mark 5 gears? They can be used in a Mark 8/9 case and were also used in early Reynard atlantic boxes (89/90-H cars). They may have been used in some others. Stronger than Mark 9 gears. In some applications the first gears had to be a F3A unit and the CWP was different.

Sorry, Jerry. Not familiar with that gearbox. Try Mike Smith at Hewland Classics.

Very common box in the older FB cars (as you mention pre FT-200). Have done a few gear changes and driven a Brabham with a Mk 5 but other than that don't know a whole lot about them. I know when Craig and Dan were at Taylor they did a lot of work on them. I would assume Scotty and company at Taylor now could provide info. Or possibly Lee Williams. What type of info are you looking for.
I've only seen one HD gearbox, and it was in an Elva Mk 8. I believe VRM in Washington was running it. It's been a few years though. I'd contact the guys at BPA or PDS in the UK for parts/questions. Good luck-

Here’s an HD5.
Here is one for sale. Seems like a reasonable price for a pre FT-200 gearbox.
