Good condition, but has been sitting for quite a while.

All the mag parts are good--ie. uprights, monster bracket, etc, and the wheel bearings feel good.
The tub is great bar one small repair to the front bulkhead (see photo).
The wing and body are in good nick except it could use a new windshield (included).

    Default March 79V

I have many more photographs that I can send on request, or can take some if something specific is required,

This car is in remarkably good condition and could very well have only a handful of races in its life. It is completely original and would make a great vintage ride.

I have enough engine parts to complete the engine, and spare wheels, nose etc.

Please text or get in touch through ApexSpeed.

Would like to see this car go to someone who will put it back on track!

    Default 1979 March SV

I just reduced the price to try and get some interest in this great car.

Built it with a 1600 to be eligible for any Historic event, or put an 1800 in it for a really fast and reliable car!

I doubt there are any more well preserved ,79's out there.

    Default 1979 March SV

other then maybe these two examples!?!?!?
but neither of them are for sale!

the 79 March SV is a great car!
fun to drive and able to beat many period atlantics, for not much more than the operating costs of a FF.
if you do the engines right, with the parts available today, they can be very reliable.
i have over 36 weekends in my car, with very few issues.
i have lots of info/data on the cars, that i would be more than happy to share, for anyone interested in purchasing Ian's.

    regards,
    fletch

    Default March FV/FA tubs

Lovely car, and a great basis to go vintage racing

As with all of these cars, the critical bit is the stamped ally front bulkhead. The bosses for the long lower a-arm bolts are not terribly strong, and the ally is very soft. The result is a gradual ovalizing of the holes, and it is an awful fix. NOS bits are long gone, although one Apexer had one a while back and was looking for US$4,000 for it, I believe. And you can't replicate the part yourself (easily). I've always suspected there a more than a couple of these tubs no longer being restored/raced because of shabby/unserviceable front bulkheads.

All to say, given what looks like limited races on this tub, and judging from the pics (with my old eyes), this looks like an excellent platform to start with. GLWTS

    Cheers,
    BT

PS. I did commission a cast ally front bulkhead for my 78B - I can put folks in touch with the fellow if needed

What Bill said about the hydro formed front bulkhead - but there are two solutions -
    - 1 - the cast one Bill refers to (I supplied the drawings for this)
    - 2 - a fabricated facsimile which retains the overall appearance but is made from high quality aluminum.
    - - - - the blue/white car in Fletch's post - very neatly done - I have pics but they really should come from the owner.

Actually there is also a third alt.
    - 3 - restore as a sports racer (eg. 2L CanAm) and you don't need to use those lower mounting points.

    Default Tub Fix

Seems to me March made a repair kit for the front bulkhead. I've seen the one for the nose frame lower mount and I think a doubler plate for the lower A arm attachment. March loved to make complex castings which were difficult to repair. Ralt was much easier to fix but both were very nice cars.

Sorry, not meaning to hijack this thread.

Hey Cy, long time no hear. How you doing, Buddy? I may try to buy back the T-242 we owned from Ted Titmus. I bought a race TC from my friend in Dave Bean, a two bolt FT-200 from a gent in Ireland, then ran out of dough and decided to let the car go. Like they say, if you want to piss with the big dogs, make sure you can lift your leg high enough. Go figure.

PM me on how you and the family are doing.

    Default Disc Bells

If I remember correctly they were machined from a casting originally. It wouldn't be too much trouble to measure one, or two if they're different F&R, and machine them from billet. Actually I'm sure Marchives must have the original drawing(s).
