    Default Motion ratios on the FE.

    I wanted to confirm this because my measurements differ slightly from these numbers. Can anybody confirm that the motion ratios are indeed 1.38 Front and 1.44 Rear? I'm setting up suspensions sensors and need to make sure these numbers are correct and that my measurements are just not as accurate as I would like.

    You need to get a plot of the motion ratios if the FE is anything like the VDs. The ratios are not constant over the full motion of the shock travel. The difference you see is likely because of how you are getting your measurements. My bet is that the ratio that you quote is the ratio at a very specific shock length and is calculated from the design of the system.

    That makes sense Steve. The baseline setup does provide shock lengths and I presume the ratios are as such when the shocks are at that length. I had imagined that the change would be extremely subtle though. I measured 9mm of wheel movement per 5mm though which is significantly higher than 1.38 (1.8). Perhaps I should try measuring again but with a helper this time.

    Measure over a much longer range to start with. It's good to know if the motion ratio is linear or if there are any ranges there are inherently worse. Measure in both directions as well (compliance will pop up here). Make several measurements as well the more samples the more trustworthy your data will be. I use a scissor jack to move the knuckle up and down with calipers to measure both knuckle movement and between the bellcrank and shock mount.

    The change on some VD type designs are not subtle, very dramatic is how I would call it.
